About Royal Kids Scholarship Foundation

To Be the Hands and Feet

In the spring of 2011, I met Adili Kea at the Atlanta Dream Center. Adili was the missions director at that time, and I was part of a campus ministry group doing missions work on spring break. During the course of doing missions together, Adili bonded with our group, and that fall he invited us to put a team together for a mission to serve and preach in the community of Mikindani, Kenya during the summer of 2012. After serving as missionaries with Youth With a Mission and then as missions directors for a church in Nariobi, Adili's parents, Grace and Ngao, started a school (Mikindani Royal Comprehensive School) to minister to the children in that community through sharing the gospel, food, and quality education. Our mission was to go and serve the students at that school and impress upon them the love that God and the Lord Jesus Christ has for them, the fact that they do matter as people and as children of God, and that they are worth being loved. In the aftermath of that trip, I felt God speak to my heart to never forget that ministry and to support the good work He was doing there.

In the following years, my wife Brianna and I maintained communication with the school administration, prayed over the children, and supported the ministry where we could. We were blessed to be able to organize a number of trips to serve, and watched as the school grew and began to offer courses at the high school level. Through seeing with our own eyes the lives changed for good, the children rescued from abusive situations, and the graduates who were able to pull their families out of poverty because of the education and training they received at Mikindani Royals, I have come to believe ever more in the need for this ministry to continue. In 2022, Brianna and I led a missions team from our home congregation at Victory Restoration Church in Virginia. This time, we saw the great needs already present at the school greatly exacerbated by the lingering challenges of the 2020 pandemic, and the ministry was struggling to keep food in the kitchen, the lights on, and teachers paid, with some staff already being furloughed. From that moment, the Father impressed upon us the need to find ongoing financial support for this vital ministry and spread the word about the good works of faithful service being done there.

To that end, and in prayerful obedience, our team from 2022 met in December of that year to form the inaugural board of directors for Royal Kids Scholarship Foundation. We want to tell the story of God's work in Mikindani and give others the opportunity to be a part of this positive change in our world, no matter where they live. If you have a desire to see more peace and prosperity in our world, less hunger and abuse, more love and compassion, more truth and life, we invite you to join our team in supporting this ministry and change the lives of children. There are needs everywhere. There are needs right here in our home communities. We should make a difference where we are, and we can also make a difference in places where help is not so easily found. Please reach out and we would be more than happy to talk with you about this endeavor, and I hope you will join us to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

                                                                                                      Sincerely in Christ,

                                                                                                                       Gavin Smith

Education

Let Kids Be All They Can Be

Education empowers young people to change the entire trajectory of their lives. Being in School rather than on the streets, being in a classroom of 30 students instead of 100, and being well-fed at school to enable active learning helps students at Mikindani Royal Comprehensive School grow to be strong and successful men and women in their community, grow in their faith, and break cycles of bondage. This ministry is not just a ministry to children, but to entire families.

Volunteering

Taking Action, Not Just Making Promises

The board of directors for Royal Kids Scholarship Fund is comprised of individuals who have served through missions at Mikindani Royal Comprehensive School. The board organizes and leads groups of short-term missionaries on periodic trips to serve the students and staff of the school, as well as working to minister to the community in other ways. For these trips, we partner with Victory Restoration Church for spiritually preparing missionaries to go and declare the love and will of God in active and meaningful ways.

Community Outreach

Connect The Willing To The Need

As an organization founded to enable the ministry of Mikindani Royal Comprehensive school to continue meeting the needs of children, we actively seek to connect children in need of aid with sponsors willing to cover educational and food costs that can prevent students from being served. We would relish the opportunity to speak with individuals, organizations, churches, and businesses who may be willing to be a part of this ministry for those in need. Please contact us to schedule a time that we may speak with you or to your organization!
